2019 Already SUCKS!!!

Is this how you're feeling?  Are your New Year Resolutions and "This is my year!", plans already going awry? Are you already discouraged and on the brink of giving up, because your "break through" doesn't look or feel like it will ever happen?  Or did you expect the drop of a ball to magically change how you felt about life, yourself and your future?  If so, then stop right there in your tracks and hear me out for a minute.

With every new generation we build up so much hype about the turning of a new year, I honestly think, subconsciously, we believe that its arrival has some sort of mystical power to make all things new or bring about  lasting change.  And not only to make it new but to make it new, immediately.  Grant it time is a powerful thing but honestly, it's not that powerful.

The power to bring about change and newness comes wrapped in the everyday, mundane, run of the mill, step by step, day by day types of discipline.  We all take off strong and fast in the beginning but seem to fizzle and burn soon after. That's because, I believe, we have an unrealistic and/or false perception of how this race is meant to be won.  We all want to race to the finish line but fail to realize that there is a process in between that will determine the outcome of the race.

A start of a new life, the turning over a new leaf, the "this is my year", the "I'm ready to do this" journey, is a process that must be attended to on a consistent basis in order for your goals to come into fruition.

So don't be discouraged if the plans you had for yourself and your family already seem to be Epic Fails. In fact, you should feel the opposite.  Trying and failing is the very process that brings about the change and improvements you want to see in your life.  The challenges that you meet on this journey will prepare and strengthen you to MAINTAIN the REWARDS you will reap once you reach your destination.  The, “If at first you don't succeed, try, try again..”, proverb is the perfect picture of what it really takes to reach your goals.

You will make MISTAKES.  Things will go WRONG. Some people will NOT COOPERATE.  AND you may even resent the fact that you even decided to embark on this journey in the first place.  BUT it does not mean that YOUR is the impossible one.  TRUST THE PROCESS.  Take it one day at a time. Give yourself some room for mistakes and slip ups.  Just whatever you do, DON’T STOP TRYING!

EVERYDAY, your goal, your desire, your DREAM is a day closer to being yours, IF you don't give up.

No more looking back at the time lost or the mistakes made.  Instead look forward towards the future you desire.  Focus on the future you.  Who is that person?  What do they look like?  How do they carry themselves?  What do they believe?  Once you figure that out write it down on a piece of paper and keep it close to you.  On your night stand, in your purse/wallet, on your phone, heck tape it to your bathroom mirror if you like.  Just make sure you can access it when you're feeling weary, discouraged or like a failure.  Let it be a point of focus for you everyday.  And before you know it you will be taking the very steps you need in order to become this person.

Remember, it’s the everyday process that births a winner.  The finish line doesn’t make you a winner, that’s just an event. You had to have already put in the work in order to win that race.  Even people with natural born abilities have to work hard in order to succeed. Success is not given to the gifted alone but to those who strive against failure and foe as well.

So if your 2019 is not working out as planned, don’t give up.  If you see this process through to the end God is gonna “make it rain”, and that’s a promise.
